What is Dermal Fillers?
Dermal filler is a category rather than a single product, and most of the products grouped under it are hyaluronic acid (HA) gels. The FDA lists absorbable fillers as approved for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and skin folds, and for lip, cheek and chin augmentation and the back of the hands, and states that the most concerning risk is unintentional injection into a blood vessel, which can cause necrosis, vision abnormalities including blindness, and stroke.
Dermal filler is a device category, not one product.
