About

How Abijou works

We started in Gangnam in 2006 and the network now runs 16 branches across Korea. The line we work to is skin transformation woven into everyday life — care you can keep up with, rather than one dramatic intervention.

  • Opened in 2006 — the first of 16 branches nationwide
  • We look at the condition first and propose only the scope it needs
  • We quote the official published price list as it stands
  • Across the 16 branches in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon: over 1,000 medical professionals and more than 350 certified medical devices
  • Authentic products only, in appropriate amounts — the treatment is fitted to the condition, not to a package

Your Concerns

Sound familiar?

The concerns that are hardest to settle on your own. We start by working out where your skin actually is.

“There are too many treatments and I have no idea where to start”

Lifting alone covers eight devices that work on different principles. We look at skin thickness and where the sagging sits, cut the list to two or three candidates, and then explain the difference between them.

“I am worried about being sold more than I need”

Rather than bundling several procedures at once, we pick one priority, start there, and decide the next step after seeing how your skin responds.

“I do not want to book a consultation just to find out the price”

Per-treatment prices are published on the official reservation center, so you can check before you travel. All payment is made at the clinic — there is no deposit and no online prepayment.

How does HIFU lifting actually tighten skin?

2026-08-14

How does HIFU lifting actually tighten skin?

Ultrasound energy is focused into points at a set depth beneath the skin, creating coagulation points; the tissue contracts as those points heal. What separates it from a surface laser is that the energy passes the epidermis and reaches the SMAS layer.

How does botulinum toxin act on muscle?

2026-08-14

How does botulinum toxin act on muscle?

It blocks release of the signaling substance that carries the nerve impulse to the muscle, so that muscle contracts less. That is why wrinkle toxin and masseter toxin use the same substance yet produce different results.

Why does collagen have to be rebuilt with treatment?

2026-08-14

Why does collagen have to be rebuilt with treatment?

The body makes less collagen with age and the collagen already there degrades. Inducing a regenerative response with heat, ultrasound or injection is the shared principle behind most anti-aging treatments.

When skin loses firmness, what exactly has changed?

2026-08-14

When skin loses firmness, what exactly has changed?

Collagen and elastin in the dermis decrease, and the subcutaneous fat and fascial layers shift downward. The cause differs layer by layer, which is why one treatment does not resolve all of it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Abijou Gangnam registered with the Korean government to treat foreign patients?

Yes. Abijou Medical Clinic Gangnam is a registered foreign patient institution under Korea's Act on Support for Overseas Expansion of Healthcare System and Attraction of Foreign Patients, and the registration is currently active. The designated target countries recorded on the registration include the United States, Japan and China. Registration is a filing with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and only registered institutions may lawfully attract foreign patients in Korea.

How can I verify that registration myself before I book?

Look the clinic up in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Medical Korea registry at medicalkorea.or.kr. The registered representative is Duk-ha Kim (romanized in some records as Kim Deok-ha). The registry record shows the current registration status and the designated target countries, the United States among them. You do not have to take our word for it — the registry is the primary source.

Does the doctor actually speak English, or is everything through an interpreter?

Abijou's official doctor listing publishes the languages each chief MD speaks, and for the Gangnam branch it lists Korean and English for Duk-ha Kim, chief MD. English, Japanese and Chinese support is available at the branch alongside Korean. What we will not promise in advance is which of the seven doctors you will see on a given day.

Does a doctor perform the treatment, or is it done by a nurse?

Seven doctors practice at the Gangnam branch — one board-certified specialist and six general physicians, as registered with HIRA, Korea's Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service.

Is it safe to get Botox or filler in Korea, and how do I know the product is genuine?

For toxin you choose the preparation rather than being handed an unnamed one — domestic, premium domestic, German-made and US-made products are listed separately on the price list with separate prices, so what you are paying for is named before you agree to it. The devices listed on this page are only those that appear on this branch's treatment menu in the official reservation center, so the list can be checked against a source we do not control.

Which lifting devices does the Gangnam branch actually have?

Ultherapy PRIME, Thermage, Oligio, Shurink Universe, InMode, ONDA, Soprano Titanium and Liftera. Each is listed on this branch's treatment menu in the official reservation center with its own price page, which is how you can confirm the device is here rather than at another branch.

Is a deposit required, and do I have to pay online in advance?

No to both. All payments are made at the clinic during your visit, and payment cannot be made through the website at all. Holding a booking costs you nothing up front, and there is no cancellation charge to recover because nothing was taken.

How far in advance should I book?

Weekday evenings and Saturdays are the slots that fill first, so book those ahead if your schedule is fixed. The official reservation center shows live availability, so you can see for yourself how far out the first open slot is rather than guessing.

Can I walk in without an appointment?

Yes, walk-ins are accepted, but you may have to wait. Picking a time on the official reservation center or messaging the KakaoTalk channel first is faster, particularly on Saturday.

Can I see prices before I come in, or do I have to book a consultation first?

You can see them first. Per-treatment prices are published on the official reservation center — pricing is not held back until a consultation. These are non-covered services and VAT is not included, and promotional prices change, so check again close to your visit date.

Do foreign patients pay a different price from Korean patients?

The price you are quoted is the published official price list, quoted as it stands. There is no separate foreign-patient rate. The final payment can differ from the listed figure only because of a special offer or promotional period in effect at the time of your visit, which applies to everyone booking in that period.

Which payment methods do you accept?

What is settled: all payment is made in person at the clinic, there is no deposit, and nothing is charged online in advance.

How long should I leave between a treatment and my flight home?

Downtime differs by treatment, and the interval to leave before flying is a clinical judgement rather than a fixed rule. Bring your departure date to the consultation — the plan is set after your skin is examined, and a near-term flight changes what is sensible to do.

Which treatments have the least downtime if I only have a few days in Seoul?

Tell us your dates at the consultation and the plan is built around them rather than around a standard course. Medical skincare programs are also used to get skin into condition before and after a procedure, which is often what fits a short trip.

What are your opening hours, and is there a lunch break?

Weekdays 10:00–20:00 with a lunch break from 14:00 to 15:00, so there is no consultation or treatment in that hour. Saturday runs straight through from 10:00 to 16:30 with no lunch break. Closed on Sunday and on public holidays.

Are you open on Sunday?

No — the Gangnam branch is closed on Sunday and on public holidays. If Sunday is the only day that works for you, the Myeongdong branch is open on Sunday from 09:30 to 18:00.

Which Gangnam Station exit should I use?

Exit 10 is the closest: 66 m, about a 1-minute walk. Exit 9 also works at 126 m, about 2 minutes — come out of Exit 9 and walk straight toward Megabox; the building is the one with a 7-Eleven on the ground floor. Gangnam Station is on Subway Line 2 and the Sinbundang Line.

Is there parking, and is valet available?

Both are free. Use the underground mechanical parking lot next to 7-Eleven, and a Complimentary Valet Parking Service is available. Because the lot is a mechanical lift, ※Available only for vehicles under 2,000kg.

What treatments does the Gangnam branch offer?

Eight categories and 59 treatments: Laser Lifting Treatments, Skin Booster, Botox & Facial Contouring, Dermal Fillers, Pigmentation, Acne & Pores, Medical Skincare, Anti-Aging Treatments and Body Contouring. The full list with prices is on the official reservation center.

Is this the same clinic as abijouonline.com, and how many branches are there?

Yes. This site is the Gangnam branch's own page; abijouonline.com is the Abijou Medical Clinic official site and reservation center. The Gangnam branch opened on 19 July 2006 and was the first branch of the network, which now runs 16 branches across Korea. Booking, the full price list and the terms of service all live on the official site.

What is the clinic's Google rating?

4.9 out of 5 from 2,011 Google reviews, checked on 8 September 2026. The rating is Google's, not ours — the link in the reviews section opens the Google Maps listing so you can read the reviews yourself.
