Which calf toxin lines does the Gangnam menu list?

The booking-centre page for Gangnam shows ten regular single-session calf lines: 100 and 200 units under each of five origin labels. There is no 50-unit calf line on that page. The same page also lists trapezius toxin lines, which this article does not cover.

What does calf botox act on?

The toxin blocks acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction, so the injected gastrocnemius contracts more weakly, and sustained weaker contraction can reduce the muscle’s bulk over time. This describes a mechanism, not a promised result.

Fat is not affected. If a rounded calf comes mainly from fat, bone structure or posture, a muscle-targeted drug will not change that part, and an in-person assessment is what separates the components.

Is it an approved use?

Not in the records checked for this page. The U.S. BOTOX and BOTOX Cosmetic labels and the Korean MFDS records for Nabota and Meditoxin list their approved uses, and calf injection for shape is not among them. Off-label is not a synonym for illegal; a licensed doctor may use a drug outside its label on clinical judgement. It does mean no regulator has reviewed the use, and the labels say safety and effectiveness are not established for unlisted uses.

Why compare units only within one product?

Units are defined by each manufacturer’s own potency assay. The U.S. BOTOX label says its units are not interchangeable with other botulinum toxin products, and each Korean MFDS record defines its own units. A 200-unit line under one origin label and a 200-unit line under another match only if the product is the same.

• Because calf use has no labelled indication, there is no label dose for it; the number of units is the treating doctor’s decision.
• Ask for the product name, the units, the muscle and who injects, and have them written down.

What did the calf gait study measure?

One uncontrolled prospective study followed 15 healthy adult women for 3 months after gastrocnemius injection. Step length, cadence and walking speed did not change significantly, but dynamic balance-control measures worsened: sagittal plane in double support (p=0.033 and p=0.050) and frontal plane in early single support (p=0.038).

With 15 participants and no control group this is not a risk figure for you. It is the finding most specific to the calf, so mention it if you run, hike, wear heels or stand most of the day.

What should you disclose and ask before consenting?

The BOTOX Cosmetic label lists two contraindications: hypersensitivity to any botulinum toxin preparation and infection at the planned injection site. It also warns that people with a pre-existing neuromuscular disorder may face higher risk of systemic effects.

• Tell the doctor about neuromuscular disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding, aminoglycoside antibiotics and earlier toxin injections with dates.
• Say how much your daily routine relies on the calves.
• Ask what the doctor expects and what they do not claim.

What does the Gangnam aftercare guide say?

The first three points come from the Gangnam page of Abijou’s booking centre (checked 2026-10-12); the last two draw on the U.S. FDA labels. They are general guidance, not an individual prescription; follow the instructions you are given on the day if they differ.

• Redness, swelling or bruising can appear; the guide says they generally ease within 1 to 2 weeks.
• For 7 days avoid alcohol, smoking, sauna, massage, jjimjilbang and strenuous exercise.
• Severe redness, itching or hives: contact the clinic right away.
• Contact the clinic for weakness that interferes with daily tasks or a change in walking or balance.
• Swallowing, speech or breathing difficulty, drooping eyelids, double vision or generalized weakness are emergencies; the U.S. boxed warning describes effects that can spread hours to weeks after injection.
